Empowering Communities Through Training

We are developing a community emergency response team with FEMA-approved training, enabling volunteers to assist during disasters while ensuring their safety and that of their families. Join us on April 28 at 6pm for an orientation and initial training for CERT volunteers. We are meeting at the Oregon Fire Station, in Oregon, WI. Anyone aged 14 and up is welcome!

What is a CERT?

Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) are vital networks of trained volunteers ready to assist during disasters, enhancing community resilience and safety. CERTs teach people about how to prepare for disasters that can happen in their communities. CERTs learn basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue and medical operations.

As a CERT member, you can play an important role in helping people in your neighborhood or workplace before, during and after an emergency.

CERT volunteers are trained to be able to:

  • Provide basic first aid

  • Check on neighbors

  • Support local emergency centers

  • Connect disaster survivors to resources

  • Serve meals

  • Distribute information to the public

  • Fire safety and basic fire suppression
